Rediscovering the joys of travel in my 30s

I have always had a love for travel and this was amplified when i was lucky enough to spend a year in India as an 18 year old. However for several years after i didn't travel much, life just got in the way and it took a back seat. That was until September 2024 when i decided to start travelling again. I started small, a trip to Norway to see family. Just to test the waters, and before I knew it i was booking trips halfway round the world. As a young adult in India the world was new and exciting and very little worried me. However, this was not the case when i reignited my desire to travel. I was nervous of solo travelling and apprehensive of what may or may not be. Little did i know that these concerns would quickly fade after my first trip. After a little research some incredible experiences (seeing the Northern lights and experiencing delicious local food) and just getting out there, i rediscovered that fearless young adult from India. I was booking trips that i would have only dreamed of just a few years earlier and doing things i never thought i could. A hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings at sunrise, why not? A homestay on the shores of Lake Titikata and a home cooked meal with a Bedouin woman after exploring Petra. The adventures just kept coming and I was loving every moment of it. I had rediscovered that fearless side to me, but my attitude towards travel had also evolved since I was 18. I discovered that i love adventure but what i truly value is those local experiences with local people. Those home cooked meals and those stories shared with locals while discovering that little known part to a country. I discovered that having a balance between this, adventure and seeing the sights is what made a trip unforgettable for me. Learning that I was able to sort even more adventures which made me stop and appreciate where i am. Trips that were truly once in a lifetime. I had not only reignited my love for travel, but I had redeveloped it. Which was an unexpected, but very welcome part of returning to travel after so many years. It was like i was seeing everything through new eyes, with a confidence and fearlessness i had forgotten i had. Honestly the decision to reignite that love for travel was the best choice i have made. I rediscovered my wanderlust and learned what kind of travel i truly love. Now i can't wait for the next adventure, the next special moment or unexpected discovery that travel has a way of providing. So if you are thinking that you want to start getting out there more. I would say take that leap and don't look back. Trust me you will be glad you did.
